Chichester Cathedral

No 49 is situated within easy walking distance of Chichester city centre and its many attractions. The city of Chichester is famous for its ancient cathedral which combines historic architecture and a world famous 20th Century artworks.

Whilst you're staying with us you should also visit the renowned Chichester Festival Theatre which is considered one of the UK's flagship theatres. Also worth a visit are the beautiful Bishops Palace Gardens, the award winning Pallant House Gallery and the 500 year old Chichester Market Cross.

Chichester has a cinema, bowling alley and a fantastic art house cinema at New Park where one can enjoy a film with a tipple! The town offers a great mix of shops along with numerous pubs and restaurants.

Other sites of interest include Priory Park with its ancient Franciscan Church, later Guildhall and Norman Motte, and Chichesters' medieval city walls built on Roman foundations which make for an enjoyable walk.

The train station is also within walking distance making day trips to London, Historic Portsmouth or shopping expeditions to vibrant Regency Brighton a car free option.

Chichester is ideally placed close to the coast, harbour and the beautiful South Downs. The coast and harbour are designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty offering stunning walks and great sailing. You can also take a harbour tour.

There are historic towns to explore; Petworth, Midhurst, Petersfield, Arundel, Bosham to name a few as well as beautiful downland villages to visit. Singleton Open Air Museum, West Dean Gardens, Arundel Castle, Stansted House and Uppark are all located close to Chichester.

Numerous sporting events hosted just outside the city including motor racing at Goodwood culminating in 2 spectacular events – The Festival of Speed, and the Goodwood Revival as well as horse Racing at ‘Glorious Goodwood’ and Fontwell and Gold Cup Polo at Cowdray Park Midhurst.
